Join us for a walk together with Daniel Kemnitz (BAM) along different irrigation systems in Hoog Catharijne. From the heart of the water system, we follow important water connections and gain insight on the elaborate timetable for plant-watering in the mall.
What happens to lost items in the mall? Where do they go and how long do they remain there, guarded by whom? What are the spirits of these items in the mall? Do they tell mall stories? Let’s set out on a hunt, let’s lose and find something in Hoog Catharijne.
No one wants to waste time; instead we focus on useful information. What happens when we turn to the useless in the mall and start ‘framing’ it? What makes a useless frame? Is a collective frame possible? We will capture these moments, and physically apply them as ‘frames’ in the mall.
What is the average speed of a shopping bag? How quickly can your legs move you if you need to catch a train? During this workshop we explore ways of counting time in the mall, researching the time that people, animals and objects spend in the mall, their tempo and directions. In what ways can we map our times differently?
Take a road trip on the slowest escalator in Hoog Catharijne together with expert Jan L. Dumno. We will explore how standing still is not necessarily being still. Let’s escalate by investigating moving stairs where the ‘quick and slow’ of our society might intersect.

The ‘Backstage walkers’ will join an evening tour with an architect and head of education of Call of the Mall. We are particularly interested in the method of guided tours, time and backstage curiosity.
